Yorkshire shepherdess Amanda Owen is mourning the loss of her beloved sheepdog – and Our Yorkshire Farm co-star – Kate.
She described Kate as a “faithful co-worker, companion, colleague and friend” in a Twitter tribute.
Owen picked Kate up from her kennel on Saturday morning, only to find the 14-year-old sheepdog had died in his sleep.
She shared a number of photographs of herself with her pet, including selfies of both of them on their walks in the countryside.
Less than an hour before posting the sad news on Twitter, Owen had posted a video of the morning sunshine in the hills, he captioned the post, “There is morning where you feel on top of the world!”
A later post read: “Then there is the other kind of mourning. Where do you go to get your faithful workmate, partner, colleague and friend from her kennel. Only to find she died in her sleep. Kate… that’s okay.
The news comes after it was revealed Owen won’t star in a new spin-off based on the hit series following her split from her husband.
Millions of viewers have watched Clive Owen and his wife Amanda raise their nine children since the show first aired in 2018.
But the new show, Beyond The Yorkshire Farm: Reuben & Clive, will only feature Clive and his eldest son, Reuben. It will follow them as they travel beyond their remote Yorkshire Dales farmhouse to start a new digging business together.
Split marriage
It comes after Clive and Amanda announced their split after 21 years of marriage this summer.
In June, they issued a joint statement saying they had made the “difficult decision to separate”.
The statement continued: “It hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it is the right choice for our family’s future.
“Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority being the happiness and well-being of our children.”
In an interview with The Telegraph in October, Owen said hiding their split from fans was difficult and that it was a relief to finally reveal the truth.
“You know when you have a pressure cooker, you take the lid off and let the air out?” Owen said.
The pair reunited last month for eldest daughter Raven’s graduation, sharing photos together with the 21-year-old at York St John University.
Owen wrote on Instagram: “A first class week for Raven. What an incredible result.
“So proud to see her graduating from the glorious @york_minster_official @yorkstjohn. No amount of rain could dampen our spirits.
