The competitive eater devours “Happy Meal for adults” in less than 1 minute

An Auckland-based competitive eater made his way through his version of an adult Happy Meal at McDonald’s in under a minute, with the fast food venture being shared on YouTube on October 30.

Competitive eater and model Nela Zisser often finds her way through outrageous food challenges.

This time around, he couldn’t resist the hype around the launch of what is called “Happy Meal for adults” at McDonald’s. The menu option was launched in the US in early October, though Zisser said it is currently unavailable in his homeland.

However, he decided to improvise, creating his own adult version of the much-loved meal from the McDonald’s menu, even grabbing a Pokemon Squirtle toy to complete the Happy Meal experience.

Zisser’s video shows her three times as she takes on the challenge, coming in just over a minute the first time, just over 58 seconds the second, and her third attempt again coming in just over a minute. “It was a lot harder than it looked,” Zisser tells the camera after the third try, adding “I’m very full now.”

Zisser’s YouTube account chronicles food feats like devouring 10 Burger King Whoppers in 17 minutes, devouring a 1kg burrito in just under 100 seconds, and consuming a 2.2-pound jar of Nutella in under four minutes. Credit: Nela Zisser via Storyful

NELA ZISSER: Hey guys. It’s Nela here today. I will do a truly epic challenge. I have McDonald’s Adult Happy Meal here in front of me and I will see how quickly I can eat it. Now, McDonald’s Adult Happy Meal consists of one Big Mac or ten chicken nuggets. I got the Big Mac, fries and an average drink.

I have Coke, no sugar. Yes. So Matt Stonie did it in 37 seconds. His first attempt was 46 seconds. I think he made, like, three tries or something. So 37 seconds is the time to beat. I will do my best. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it that fast, but I’ll try.

New Zealand doesn’t actually make Happy Meal for adults, so I had to make my own. I have a little – I have my little Squirtle – my little Squirtle toy here because watching Squirtle makes me happy and, you know, I feel like it’s the kind of toy – it’s probably really too high quality to go into. a McDonald’s Happy Meal, but … yes.

So we’re going to have him sit there for the duration of this video. I also have a couple of other Big Mac combos here. The fries are still in the bag, trying to keep it a little warm. So if I don’t do it fast enough, I’ll try to do it a couple of times. Eventually, we’ll see … we’ll see how we go. I’m very excited.

I’m so hungry right now. So yes, let’s get into it. All right. I don’t know how I’m going to do it. I’m just taking the drink down here because I’m a little worried about spilling it. I’ll bring the … OK. OK. I have the drink there. OK. Oh, exciting.

Put my hair behind my ears so I don’t eat my own hair because it’s never beautiful. OK. All right. So Matt ate the burger first and I think that’s how I’m going to go. See how beautiful it looks. This looks like … this is, like, a nice Big Mac. This is a big Big Mac. OK.

So I’ll start with the burger, then eat the fries. OK. OK. OK. OK. Oh, why am I so nervous? I am so nervous for some reason. Every time I do, like, a speed challenge, it makes me so nervous. I do not know why. OK. OK. I am not ok. Let’s just go. Let’s just go. OK. 3, 2, 1, go.

My God.

[BURPS]

My God.

[COUGHS]

Oh, it was hard. The fries, like, have … my face is very messy right now. The fries, like, got a little stuck in my throat. Hoo. My God. Just a minute. One minute and 6 seconds. I think I can do better.

I’m going to wash my hands right away and I’ll be back. Everything is fine. Second round. I have my hair pulled up now. I brought this up to me, and the camera too, so I’m not, like, reaching out here to eat stuff. I have my drinks. I’ll put my drink back here.

So I think it was good. It was easier, like, to get it than to have it here. Oh. Yes, I have my Big Mac, my chips. And let’s go for the second round. So, this time, we’re looking to hit 1 minute and 6 seconds. I think I can beat him. I think I got a little choked on the fries there.

I wonder if I should make the fries first. I do not know. Matt Stonie made the chips first on his second try, and I think he actually did worse, so I could just stick with the Big Mac first, you know? Reset this. Guys, give you another little … little peek at the Big Mac. OK. All right. OK.

[EXHALES]

3, 2, 1 and go.

My God. Ah. Ugh.

[CHUCKLES]

This one had a piece of ice in it. Hoo. It was cold.

[BURPS]

Oh, forgive me. My God. Hoo. It was surprising because the first one did not contain ice … [COUGHS] so i didn’t realize– i just spat out some chips, i guess. We will leave it alone … we will leave it there.

[SIGHS]

Man. OK. It was probably, like, 56 seconds or something. It took me, like, a minute to press it, a second to process all of this. OK. OK. We’re going to … we’ll try again. We will be back. We will be back. OK. Everything is fine.

I’m going to wash my hands again and we’ll try one more time. OK, last try. I think I can … I think I can … OK, I can’t beat 37 seconds. Let’s make it clear. But I will try to beat my previous time. OK. All right.

This cup is very wet. I’ll just give a little – very humid today, even though it’s, like – it’s very – it’s, like, raining. It’s the first time it has rained, like, in a while. It is very humid, though. Everything is just sweating. OK. Here we are. Hoo. OK.

Get my little burger here, my little fries there. OK. My little Squirtle, little Squirty. OK. Here we go. I’ll have to reset. OK. It’s all in our headspace.

[CHUCKLES]

All right. I have my toasted Big Mac right here. It stands for … ooh, this is it. OK. OK. 3, 2, 1, go. Oh alright.

[CHUCKLES]

It stopped. I didn’t know if I pressed it. I was, like … I pressed it. I didn’t see him go. I do not know why. OK. We will start from here. I haven’t eaten any. I just put it in my mouth. OK. 3, 2, 1 and go.

My God.

[BURPS]

Oh, I have a piece of bread on my dress.

[CHUCKLES]

My God. OK. It seems my best official time was 58 seconds. It’s probably a couple of seconds shorter than that just because I didn’t press it in time. Damn. It was much more difficult than it seemed. Matt … Matt Stonie is crazy. How can he do it in 37 seconds?

I just … I could never … [CHUCKLES] I could never do that. It’s so fast, so insanely fast, so it’s good for you, Matt. However, I am still quite proud of myself. 58 seconds for my best wasn’t that bad. I am very full now. But those were tasty. It was actually pretty good.
