The Fashion Awards were predictably glamorous. As usual, her famed red carpet drew A-list listeners, scene pioneers, legendary designers, and neo-baby socialites, who made it a masterclass in outlandish gowns and exquisite beauty looks.

One of the most dramatic trends on the red carpet has been next-level lavish feathered lashes. Worn by the likes of Raye, who added black and red feathers to the corner of her eyes, and supermodel Kristen McMenamy, who complemented her bright pink Valentino gown with matching feathers that were carefully applied to her lashes tops and bottoms for a wide eyed statement look.

Fashion fans might have noticed the similarities between McMenamy’s look and Valentino’s spring/summer 2019 couture show, where the illustrious Pat McGrath created feathered 3D lashes for their floral-themed collection. Thus making it a perfect tribute to Valentino’s creative director, Pierpaolo Picciloi, who ended up winning the Designer of the Year award at last night’s awards ceremony.

The adventurous looks didn’t stop there. FKA Twigs looked otherworldly in a frayed gray Rick Owens suit that she paired with an eerie psychedelic maze pattern across her face and a layer of glossy red lip gloss down the center of her lips. Rita Ora has also gone the extra mile with prosthetic gills, the work of acclaimed beauty mogul Isamaya Ffrench. Giving a whole new meaning to “mermaid eyes,” the pop star exaggerated her own bleached brows—which was the ultimate beauty trend of 2022—with bizarre facial prosthetics mimicking aquatic wildlife placed around her eyes and cheekbones. her.

The red carpet was also awash with another beauty trend that dominated the runway this year: OTT smoky cat eyes. First made famous by Julia Fox sporting accentuated eyeliner during Paris Fashion Week with then-boyfriend Kanye West in February, the likes of Versace and Armani have since replicated the look. Supermodel Irina Shayk and YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg also jumped onto the fashion last night, with every jumbo dagger liner rocking their evening gowns.

Florence Pugh – or “Miss Flo” – has become a tour de force on the red carpet this year, whether it’s closing Cannes in a purple Valentino two-piece and glass of Aperol in hand, or stunning at the British Independent Awards with an extravagant pink dress. Admittedly, last night was certainly no different. The Don’t worry honey the star paired her outrageously beautiful red gown trailing behind her with a matching red lip and slicked-back hair for a demure nod to Old Hollywood.

ES magazine cover star Paloma Elsesser and Irish broadcaster Angela Scanlon tried out the polka dot eyeliner trend that went viral on TikTok this year. First made popular by 1960s superstar Twiggy, who dotted the lower lash line to emphasize her lashes, the look has since had a modern update with celebrities experimenting with different ways to rock the style, both whether it’s new cutting-edge dot placements (like Elsesser last night), or using wacky colors to fill them in.
