Stella McCartney accepts CBE from King Charles for sustainable fashion shoots

Stella McCartney received a CBE from King Charles III this morning, following her investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. To do so, she looked every inch of the McCartney model.

The British fashion designer and daughter of Paul McCartney naturally flaunted one of her eco-conscious designs to become a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Her sophisticated navy dress was cut just above the knee and consisted of elegant long sleeves and a dark satin belt.

While appearing simple on the outside, the look had a strong canvas construction and featured corset-style boning that provided its rigid silhouette. As with almost all of his projects, it was made with mindful materials. In this case, the suit was made in NATIVA™ wool which is supplied by a company that offers a more transparent supply chain than others on the market. NATIVA™ describes itself as “the most advanced 100% traceable merino wool label globally”.

She paired the gown with navy high stiletto heels from her label’s archive, plus a statement-strewn custom lace veil, blue pom-poms by Wandsworth milliner Emily-London, all the while smiling at the king.

McCartney received the title in recognition of his services to fashion and sustainability. She has been a pioneer and innovator in eco-conscious clothing since founding her eponymous label in 2001, after four years as creative director of Chloé. When it comes to activism, the designer looks to her mother Linda McCartney, the animal rights pioneer.

And the designer was well prepared for the moment. In 2013, she was awarded an OBE by the late Queen Elizabeth II looking not too dissimilar, sporting a fitted silhouette, a navy blazer, and a pencil skirt of her own design.

The designer is working at a brisk pace at the moment, having just returned from Los Angeles after throwing a bombshell party with friends Kate Hudson, Georgia May Jagger and Paris Jackson, and will soon be in Paris where she will present her next collection on March 6th.
