England started the season with a 6-2 win against Iran, before a goalless 0-0 draw against the United States in their second group match.
The BBC won two of England’s three World Cup group matches, including against Iran on Monday, matchday two. The BBC also secured the rights to broadcast the opening ceremony, however their coverage on BBC One focused on undoing the controversy over hosting the tournament in Qatar.
In the latest free-to-air share, ITV screened Friday’s second game against the United States, and will potentially show the round of 16 and quarter-finals.
Terrestrial channels have been negotiating a share of coverage of major tournaments with each other for more than 50 years and ITV is said to have had the top pick this year.
The group stage match between England and Wales will be televised by the BBC, but the company will wait until the semi-final to screen another potential match from the Three Lions. ITV also followed up with the USA’s 1-1 draw against Wales on 21 November.
The BBC also has Spain against Germany on November 27th.
After Iran, England failed to beat the United States in a World Cup finals match in the required third time following a shock defeat in 1950 and a draw at the 2010 finals in South Africa.
England’s third match against the postponed European play-off winners gets underway at 19:00 (GMT) on 29 November.
