Hollyoaks’ Eva O’Hara hints at Verity that she found out the truth about Eric

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Eva O’Hara has hinted that her character Verity Hutchinson may uncover the shocking truth about her brother Eric.

Eric is currently at the center of the Channel 4 soap opera’s biggest ongoing plot, exploring the actuality of radical misogyny.

Viewers have seen Eric try to radicalize some of the village’s younger characters in recent months. He initially made a failed attempt with Charlie Dean, before moving on to Mason Chen-Williams.

More recently, Eric targeted Maxine Minniver with sinister, offensive demeanor and drank Lizzie Chen-Williams’ drink while out with friends at The Loveboat.

Although some people in the village have started to distrust Eric, Verity is reluctant to believe that her brother could be a villain.

Speaking exclusively to Digital spy on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards 2022 this week, Eva explained: “There’s so much coming up for Verity. She’s had a very physically active year, which I really enjoyed!

“It’s getting bigger and bigger. We have a very feminine episode coming out, which is called the Long Walk Home episode.

“A lot of the women on the show have a night out and what can sadly happen at the hands of men on a night out. That’s really on my mind right now.”

He continued: “There’s also a lot of things coming up for Verity with her brother Eric. She’s exposed to certain truths she can’t shy away from anymore.

“I think with that bottom line of misogyny, you really challenge Verity’s issues of how it addresses these ideas and how it deals with the misogyny that’s out there. It’s also a challenge for me and makes me think about how I would react to certain situations.” .

Eva went on to explain why Verity has supported Eric so far.

He said, “It’s all that kind of ‘you can’t choose your family.’ There’s that very inherent need to support those you grew up with and share blood with, but it’s complicated.

“I think he’s been really pushed now – and there are some things coming up that Verity can’t shy away from.”

Hollyoaks first streamed on All 4, with new episodes coming out every weekday morning. The show airs Monday to Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via First video.
