1. Emmerdale: Cain’s secret is under threat

(Wednesday 7pm on ITV1)

Kyle’s guilt in the Al murder case is becoming one of Emmerdale’s worst kept secrets, with Moira, Amy and Mack all aware that Cain is covering for his young son.

It seems likely that Matty will join that list as he becomes determined to find out why Amy and Moira both fled to Belfast with little explanation. He feels it’s all related to the real reason behind Al’s death.

Despite Chas’ warnings not to get involved, Matty visits Cain in prison and shares his suspicions that something is not right.

No-nonsense Cain dismisses Matty’s speculation and believes he’s done enough to throw his stepson off the road. Unfortunately, Matty can tell Cain is lying and seems unlikely to drop it.

Stephen fears his house of cards may collapse when he sees Tim’s mum Elaine approaching from afar. Wanting to avoid awkward questions, Stephen tries to escape but falls out of the vehicle.

The incident draws unwanted attention to Stephen, but before he knows it, he’s telling Elaine tall tales to explain himself. The big question is whether Elaine will buy it and whether her concern for Stephen could land her in his long-term line of fire.
