World Cup 2022 calendar: match dates, times, group stages and finals – GETTY IMAGES/MATTHEW ASHTON

The 2022 Qatar World Cup kicked off on 20 November, with the opening match seeing the hosts lose 2-0 to Ecuador.

England, who flew to Qatar on Tuesday, played their second match of the tournament, which saw Gareth Southgate’s side score six goals against Iran, with Bukayo Saka netting two.

The Three Lions will also face the United States and Wales in the group stage.

The England team’s sessions have been moved to the morning to cope with the rising temperatures.

James Maddison missed England’s opening match against Iran after struggling with a knee injury sustained during Leicester’s last Premier League match against West Ham, and is a doubt for Friday’s match against United United.

Captain Harry Kane has returned to training following an ankle scan after injuring himself in that first game.

Here is the complete calendar of confirmed matches, up to the final on 18 December.
