Holiday fever is real and whether you’re planning a family vacation this summer, some winter sun, a romantic city break for two, a group bachelorette party or a road trip, British Airways has a variety of worldwide destinations waiting to be explored.

Traveling during off-peak seasons is good for your wallet, but there are other ways to keep costs to a minimum, including British Airways Avios points.

Some may have heard of Avios British Airways, but if you haven’t, it’s time to get acquainted, as it could save you more money when you book a package holiday with the major airline.

Travelers can sign up for British Airways Executive Club absolutely free, and well worth doing as members can use the loyalty currency – known as Avios – to pay in full or make a partial payment for their next trip.

THE the tour package must include flights and a hotel, or flights and car hire, must last at least five nights and be completed before 31 December 2023.

The customer loyalty program is not to be confused with British Airways’ American Express credit card programme, which can also earn you Avios as you spend, although it helps if you need to rack up more points.

Members can also collect Avios when shopping at over 1,500 retailers via the British Airways Avios eStore, through the British Airways website, at Sainsburys or Argos using the Nectar card, as well as when traveling with Uber.

When shopping at these outlets, customers can expect to receive one Avios point for every pound spent.

The travel company has other incentives to help shoppers boost their Avios points. Those who subscribe to British Airways American Express credit card could receive a further 5,000 bonus Avios if they spend £1,000 within the first three months of purchasing the card.

When British Airways Executive Club members accumulate these all-important Avios points, they can be redeemed for purchases made through British Airways in nine different ways.

Buyers can choose to use their Avios in full, as an alternative payment method to a cash or card deposit, or as a part payment with a minimum of £1 paid in cash.

Members can also choose to use their Avios as a deposit, with full payment payable at a later date, to secure their dream holiday.

If this option is selected, the remaining total must be paid four to five weeks before a short haul flight or seven weeks before a long haul holiday.

Avios can also be redeemed for seat selection, upgrades, as well as food and drink on board the flight.

Executive Club members will also continue to do so earn Double Tier points with the major tour company when traveling later this year.

Customers can level up, from blue to gold, and with each category members will have access to exclusive bonuses.

Speaking on the initiative, British Airways Holidays Chief Executive Claire Bentley said: “Now more than ever we want to offer as many options as possible when it comes to booking that much needed holiday, so we are really excited to offer our Executive Club members have the option to spend Avios on a British Airways Holiday package.

“When people book with us, they can do so knowing that we take their vacation seriously. As well as a huge range of holidays for all travelers and all budgets.”

When booking through British Airways, customers can rest assured that their journey will be ATOL protected, meaning customers are covered if the operator goes out of business.

Plus, those who book with the retailer will get 23kg of checked baggage per person and have access to a 24-hour holiday helpline, so rest assured you’ll have experts on hand for any issues.

The Avios scheme makes it easier to secure your dream holiday, as a minimum deposit of £60 per person is required.

Plus there’s also a monthly payment scheme for those who prefer the flexibility of paying by installments, and members can do that create a Household Account to combine your Avios with others to pay off that big dream faster.

It is important to note that members can cancel at any time.

Whether you’re headed to the US, Asia or Europe, you can fly in comfort, with all your needs catered for and help covering costs.
